Verse: We are just riding around, living out each day like the last and it's always funny when I look in the past. I'll tell you the things I see. I see our dreams spread across the floor like the Christmas presents from the year before. So join me in a celebration of the times that passed. Along with the summer sun and drinking down by The River Mill. Can you remember just how it feels getting served underage until we were good and drunk. Along with the girls we knew back when we were seventeen and so used to the old routine. But those girls left us in the end alone. Alone. So, we've still got our own weeknights in the street lights and our bright eyes, oh how they shine when other girls come passing in our sights. But we would rather sit and laugh the nights away that come from days that we get paid so here's to all those nights that make our lives, our lives. Chorus: They were the best of times. Living for the sake of being alive and the rest that I can look back on to say 'at least I tried'. Verse: And I won't forget a single thing. I guess it's best for me to keep those things in mind 'cause then I can believe that this is not the end of just another year. It's clearly the beginning here and just a chance for us to start again. Chorus: They were the best of times. Living for the sake of being alive and the rest that I can look back on and say 'at least I tried'. Middle 8: If the good die young. Then we will live forever. With our off-key voices and out of tune hearts. We couldn't do much better. So i'm flicking through the photo's and the numbers in my phone. Looking for the reasons that I have to sing. I guess what I'm trying to say is ''When it comes to New Years Day, my resolution is to not change a thing'' Chorus: They were the best of times. Living for the sake of being alive and the rest that I can look back on and say 'at least I tried'. Yeah I'll make you proud every time I sing my songs aloud. So my stage is now anywhere where you are in the crowd!

Verse: I've got a lot of growing up to do. Still got a lot of days to get through. Only 20 years down the line. Still got a lot of things on my mind. I'm still going to sing about love and write about when we were young. There isn't anything holding me back. To look back on the things we've done. Chorus: It's funny how the world turns round when we're still in the same place. How the years pass from first to last but this town doesn't seem to change. The cover's old, the pages fold but the story never ends. And when I look past my Airs and Graces, i've still got my family and friends. Verse: I've got twenty quid in my wallet. I've got this pick in my pocket. This old guitar here in my hands. I'm never too far from it. These songs stand the test of my time. These words will make or break my life. Whether I get all or none. I will just take it as it comes. Chorus: It's funny how the world turns round when we're still in the same place. How the years pass from first to last but this town doesn't seem to change. The cover's old, the pages fold but the story never ends. And when I look past my Airs and Graces, i've still got my family and friends. Middle 8: Can we make amends, If we stay selfish men? Look at the times we spent. Oh do you remember? The new years when we waited for two hours but the bus didn't come, oh well! Or that night in Cambridge where we laid waste to Mc Donalds and the Plaza Hotel. There were so many nights that we had to fight to make the best of the worst. So get in the car 'cause I'm driving out! Chorus: The cover's old, the pages fold but the story never ends. And when I look past my Airs and Graces, i've still got my family and friends.

Verse: It seems you've given into temptation like a thousand times before. Another guy, another hotel room, another bedroom floor. Sweet nothings being whispered in your ears. Say nothing, keep listening and dry your tears. Chorus: I don't see the point in screaming out your alibis. I can't stand the way you're breathing. I'm so used to hearing you lie. I don't like it when you smile but I hate seeing you cry. So could we hold it off this time? Verse: It seems you've given it all up like you did when you were young. Just an adolescent, yeah a teenager out looking for some fun. Save the protection for another day, maybe another guy. It won't hurt. It won't matter just for this one night. Chorus: I don't see the point in screaming out your alibis. I can't stand the way you're breathing. I'm so used to hearing you lie. I don't like it when you smile but I hate seeing you cry. So could we hold it off this time? Middle 8: You've been dreading this for so long. Well guess what, this is 'That' song. You begged me not to do this. Will we ever make it through this? Verse: It seems the morning's drawing nearer and you're in your sunday best. Both tucked up under the covers lying there half dressed. You don't seem bothered that in a few hours i'll be coming home. Keep your secret under the covers and I will never know! Chorus: I don't see the point in screaming out your alibis. I can't stand the way you're breathing. I'm so used to hearing you lie. I don't like it when you smile but I hate seeing you cry. So could we hold it off this time?

Verse: She told me once oh she told me twice on the phone not to call her again. But the next day her number appeared on the screen of my phone as it started to ring. She couldn't resist oh I knew that she missed conversations where dreams seemed to start. From the phone to the bed to the wardrobe instead to the back seat of her car. Chorus: So why do I find myself playing these games? When I know i'm not one to name names. Oh ballerina, well you should've seen her, she'd dance the whole night through. She'll kiss you a smile but then be done with you. Verse: She poured me a drink as we began to think about what to do with the night. I wanted to make the best of a journey that sets off at Guildford for a two train ride. To the underground at Waterloo through East Finchley surrounded by buskers and tramps. All I got was a kiss on the cheek and to sleep on the sofa. But I take it back. Chorus: But I guess that it's fine when it suits her. And you would do the same if you knew her. But I guess that it's boring 'cause she had been clawing her way since 2006. And the cut still feels fresh since she left me an atheist. Middle 8: I read a verse from the bible when I was young. A short and sweet verse. Entitled 'Love'. I believed every word I read. I know have my own thoughts instead. Chorus: But I still have one more question. What's wrong with being open to suggestion? I did my best when the things I suggested were quotes from the things that i'd learnt. And now these three remain 'Faith, hope and hurt'

Watermarks 04:42
Verse: Take me down off of this stage. 'cause i'm not feeling to brave. I can't stand the eyes all on me. Revealing what they shouldn't see. Stripped down torn at the seams. And although these watermarks run streams. They could set us free. Verse: At times I can be quite a bit. Ignorant, yeah i'll admit. And although we don't see eye to eye. Turn off the music and turn down the lights. 'cause we can see much better with our eyes closed. In the end we are all just skin and bone. I am your own. Middle 8: So tear down the curtains to see if i'm there, I see you. Hold me up to the light and you will see straight though. Yeah i'm not ready to say my last adieu. And I won't let this go until the day that you forget that we're the best on view. Verse: Take me from out of this page. 'cause i'm feeling twice my age. Let's cast all our past aside. And do our best to pull in the tide. And take our reunion to heart. It's been this way from the start. I love you.

about

"This was my first 'Full Band' Release, although I played everything on the songs apart from Drums and Cello. I had around a full albums worth of material (like I did when I recorded First Impressions E.P) but myself and my manager Adam picked these 5 as we both felt they represented what I was 'all about'.
Incredibly happy with how they turned out and had a great team of people working behind it all too.
The E.P was released on July 28th 2011 as the covermount for issue 136 of Big Cheese Magazine aswell as having a 5/5 review and a full page feature of yours truly in the magazine!
These songs go down a treat live, but I can honestly say that the stuff I've been writing (with and without the help of my band) since this was released, is a massive step up!"
